"Wen Tao"International Forum of Tsinghua University

About the speakers

Alexander Plekhanov is a Director for Transition Impact and Global Economics at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Office of the Chief Economist. He has worked on global macroeconomic issues as well as a country economist on a number of countries, including Belarus, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia. Prior to joining the Bank, Alexander worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund in the Western Hemisphere and Fiscal Affairs Departments.

Richard Jones represents the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Beijing, on secondment to AIIB. He is responsible for business development between the EBRD and AIIB, as well as between EBRD and Chinese banks and companies who invest in EBRD countries of operations. He took up his current position in October 2017 and was previously Director of the President’s Office at EBRD HQ in London. Between 2014 and 2016 he headed EBRD operations in Tajikistan, based in Dushanbe. Prior to joining the Bank in 2003, Richard served as a policy adviser in the UK Treasury and at the European Commission.

About the event

“Wen Tao” International Forum of Tsinghua University is hosted by Tsinghua University and organized by Schwarzman College. Lectures are delivered by scholars/experts from prestigious international organizations and global development institutions, and attended by students and faculty in Tsinghua University.

The Purpose of “Wen Tao” International Forum of Tsinghua University is to create a new pattern of liberal arts studies featuring higher standards and more areas of excellence for Tsinghua University, foster top-of-class innovative talents entrusted with the mission of the future through the knowledge imparted by experts, deepen international exchanges and cooperation, broaden international horizon, further build up the foundation of liberal arts and nurture greater attainment in the field.

Participation

This event is open to Tsinghua students, faculty, and staff. Please present valid Tsinghua ID Card to access Schwarzman College. Guests will be admitted on a first come basis until all seating is full. 
This lecture will be given in English.
