Thia Jang Ping is the Principal Economist in the Strategy, Policy and Budget Department of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). He is responsible for economic analysis, including macroeconomics monitoring, review of project economics, as well as supporting sector and investment strategies at the Bank, “China and Singapore are strong examples of how investment in infrastructure has promoted economic growth and transformed societies. China has also greatly expanded on sustainable infrastructure in recent years. I am very honored to be part of AIIB’s mission to promote this model in Asia”. Prior to joining the Bank, Jang Ping was the Director responsible for national security and community budgets in the Ministry of Finance (Singapore), overseeing spending on security, sports, community and telecommunication infrastructure. Having graduated with an Economics PhD degree from London School of Economics, he was also previously the Director for Economics at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, responsible for macroeconomic analysis, research and policy evaluation in the public sector.
