Recently, many business leaders of world-class companies visited Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University. They toured the college and cordially exchanged views with faculty and students.
On November 3rd, Tan Sri Dato’ Lee Shin Cheng, Executive Chairman of Malaysia IOI Group visited Tsinghua University with his team and toured the Schwarzman College building. President Qiu Yong was grateful for Lee Shin Cheng’s support of Tsinghua University and the Schwarzman Scholars Program as well as his significant contributions to the Malaysia-China relationship. Lee Shin Cheng spoke highly of Schwarzman College’s integrated teaching model and anticipated more Malaysian students choosing Tsinghua University to further pursue their academic studies. Yang Bin, Vice President of Tsinghua University, David Li, Dean of Schwarzman College and David Pan, Executive Dean of Schwarzman College also greeted Lee Shin Cheng and his delegation. Lee Shin Cheng is the founder of IOI Group (Fortune Global 500 company) and a renowned overseas Chinese entrepreneur. He has been a long time advocate for education and public welfare.

On November 1st, Pablo Isla, Chairman and CEO of Inditex Group visited Schwarzman College. Executive Dean David Pan accompanied Pablo Isla in touring the college and gave him an overview of Schwarzman College’s development. Dean David Pan was put in charge of development and cooperation initiatives at Tsinghua University for a long period of time. Under his effort, Pablo Isla visited Tsinghua University countless times, keeping up with updates and offering his long-term support for the Schwarzman Scholars Program. As one of the world’s largest fashion apparel retailer, Inditex has over 6,600 stores worldwide. Apart from their largest chain store Zara, Inditex holds 7 other brands and plans to make China as its largest overseas market. So far, the retailer has opened more than 500 stores in China’s 63 cities.
In addition, the top management team of Caterpillar, J.P. Morgan, Deloitte and other multi-national companies have also paid a visit to Schwarzman College recently, and attended respective lectures sponsored by these three companies. Schwarzman College invited globally renowned scholars and leaders from the political and business networks to give open lectures every week. These open courses featured diverse perspectives and insights to the audience; the lectures were successful as both Tsinghua University’s faculty and students spoke highly of them. Recent guest speakers included Samuel Popkin, Professor of Political Science, University of California, San Diego, Byron Spruell, NBA President of League Operations, and Lawrence H. Summers, former U.S. Treasury Secretary, and former President of Harvard University.
