On September 23rd, Tony F. Chan, President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Eden Y Woon, Vice President of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and their team visited Tsinghua University. In the meantime, Xue Qikun, Vice President of Tsinghua University welcomed President Tony F. Chan at Schwarzman College. David Pan, Executive Dean of Schwarzman College also greeted the team and introduced Schwarzman College’s academic affairs, student life and international cooperation and exchanged views with guests on future potential cooperation initiatives.

On October 19th, Asa Hutchinson, Governor of Arkansas state, U.S. visited Schwarzman College together with his delegation team consisting of 9 members and interacted with Schwarzman Scholars. Executive Dean David Pan and Professor Xue Lan, Dean of School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University also joined the company. Asa Hutchinson graduated from University of Arkansas, School of Law and became the youngest prosecutor in the U.S. by Former U.S. President Reagan at the age of 31. He shared with Schwarzman Scholars his very own story on personal growth, experiences, reflections and political career as well as the efforts he made to successfully facilitate local economic growth and create job opportunities.

On October 20th, Chairperson of Tsinghua University Council Chen Xu met Patrick Prendergast, President of Trinity College Dublin. Prendergast gave a fantastic speech on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship & the Role of the University” and shared his opinions on innovation and entrepreneurship. The lecture was chaired by Dean David Pan.

On that day, Tsinghua University students from 12 schools and departments participated in the activity, including: School of Humanities, School of Economics and Management, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Life Sciences, School of Medicine, Academy of Arts & Design, School of Law, School of Architecture, School of Mechanical Engineering, and School of Sciences. There was a lively atmosphere as students actively expressed their opinions and shared the challenges and problems they encountered in starting up their own business.

On October 24th, James J. Browne, President of National University of Ireland, Galway , Tom Joyce, CEO of Galway University Foundation and other 5 members from the delegation visited Schwarzman College. Executive Dean David Pan joined the company and introduced Schwarzman College’s curriculum and student life, etc. National University of Ireland, Galway enjoys a long history and maintains close ties with Chinese universities. On December 2014, Tsinghua University and National University of Ireland, Galway signed a partnership framework agreement, which further enhanced deep bilateral cooperation on teaching methodology.

On October 26th, Dr Tan Chik Heok BSc, President of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, President of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College Alumni Association, and Barry Goh Ming Choon, Executive Vice President of MCT Consortium Berhad, visited Schwarzman College. Jason Wenhao Cheng, Associate Dean of Schwarzman College accompanied the delegation in touring the campus. Tunku Abdul Rahman University College is one of Malaysia’s comprehensive universities and is named after Malaysia’s founding father- Tunku Abdul Rahman. It is considered one of the most prestigious universities in Malaysia. Barry Goh Ming Choon graduated from Department of Electronic Engineering, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College and contributed significantly to national development. In 2011, he was awarded the title Dato' Sri/Datuk Seri by Pahang Sultan. In 2012, he was awarded the title Tan Sri by the Supreme Head of Malaysia.

On November 7th, Margaret Sheil, Provost of University of Melbourne and Simon Evans, Vice President of University of Melbourne visited Schwarzman College. Associate Dean Jason Cheng accompanied them in touring the campus. The two sides discussed Schwarzman College’s features, enrolment and professor employment opportunities. They expressed their willingness to pursue further cooperation. University of Melbourne is one of Australia’s most prestigious universities. Tsinghua University has been maintaining close ties with it since the last two decades . In 2013, both sides signed an agreement that provided for joint PhD degrees, the first time Tsinghua has partnered with an Australian university on an university-wide PhD agreement.
