On March 21st, Chen Xu, Chairperson of the University Council, met with Stephen A. Schwarzman, Chairman, CEO and Co-founder of Blackstone, at Tsinghua University. Schwarzman College Dean David Li and Executive Dean David Pan were also present at the meeting.
Chen Xu meets with Stephen Schwarzman
On behalf of Tsinghua University, Chen Xu thanked Mr. Schwarzman for his support and contributions to the university, as well as congratulating Schwarzman Scholars on the successful enrollment of its first cohort. Chen indicated that Schwarzman College will raise the academic level of Tsinghua’s international education system and improve its reputation worldwide. As Schwarzman College’s “hardware” construction nears completion, it will next turn its focus on “software” aspects such as curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and student life, among other factors. The university will continue supporting Schwarzman College in all areas of development to make full preparations for the arrival of the first scholars.
Mr. Schwarzman expressed his gratitude to Tsinghua University for its wholehearted support to Schwarzman College. Excited with the first cohort of Schwarzman Scholars, he said that the college has selected a very talented group of youth, who will be offered a once in a lifetime experience to explore China and its link to the global community, gaining invaluable global insights on their new journey. Mr. Schwarzman also spoke highly of the college, recognizing its achievements to date.
