Serena Newberry graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana, summa cum laude with English Honors, and co-founded a not-for-profit, Developing Kingdoms In Different Stages, in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan. At the Maurice A. Deane School of Law, Serena was President of the Black Law Students Association, a fellow with the Freedman Social Justice Institute, and a legal intern representing minors in special immigrant juvenile matters. Her fields of interest are education, public policy, and immigration. She aspires to implement policies that will generate greater educational opportunities for young people in underserved communities. Serena is from the United States.
